For years, the only ferry service to Caladesi Island State Park was from Honeymoon Island State Park.

But since Caladesi was named America’s Best Beach last May by Dr. Beach, its popularity has grown exponentially. To respond to the increase in visitors, the operators of the Caladesi Island Connection have introduced new ferry service to Caladesi from the Clearwater Municipal Marina. “The hotels have been clamoring for this,” according to Phil Henderson, owner of the Caladesi Island Connection as well as the Dolphin Encounter berthed at the Clearwater Municipal Marina. The trip, aboard the double deck, 125-passenger Clearwater Express, allows for a three-hour visit to Caladesi, followed by a Dolphin Encounter cruise on the return to Clearwater along the Gulf Coast. Unlimited free beer, wine, and soda are served after leaving Caladesi. Dolphin sighting “is guaranteed.” Reservations are required and can be made by calling 727-442-7433.
